Labradorite
Sodium and calcium alumino-silicate
Labradorite was discovered in 1770 in Labrador ( Canadian peninsula). It is known with different names – spectrolite (because it reflected all the colors in the spectrum), black moonstone, Labrador feldspar). This gemstone is a favorite because it displays incredible lighting effects ( labradorescence), which causes the colors to alter dramatically as the viewing angle changes. The brilliant flashes of blue, green, gold, and silver are due to light interference within the structure of the mineral’s composition. Deposits are found in Canada, Madagascar, Norway, Mexico and Russia.
Labradorite is a very spiritual gemstone. Each stone has its own personality. It is believed that it allows magic to happen and aids our bodies and spirit in healing themselves. Used in meditation for quieting physically, emotionally and spiritually. Relieves stress and promotes inner peace. Stabilizes the aura and enhances the flow of energy between the aura and the chakras.
