Aquamarine is a variety of Beryl. It is composed of  Beryllium Aluminum Silicate.  The blue-green color comes  from iron compounds. The color appears in light blue, blue-green, and  pale green. Usually has been heat treated to change its color from pale yellow to blue-green. The name Aquamarine comes from the Latin word, aqua marina, meaning “sea water”. Since ancient times  it was believed to protect those at sea – sailors and travelers. Aquamarine is found in Brazil, Colombia, Pakistan, Russia (Ural mountains), USA, China and some African countries.  img_2047
